Beekeeping Tools & Calculators
Apiary Startup Calculator + Honey Forecast
Enter hives (1–20), hive style, beekeepers, bee source, region, and budget tier. Get an itemized shopping list with a budget range, a category cost breakdown, a hive diagram, a seasonal calendar, and a conservative year-1 / year-2 honey forecast in lbs, kg, and jars.
Sugar Syrup Calculator
1:1 spring or 2:1 fall syrup, by weight (1 gal water = 8.34 lbs). Size the batch by gallons/quarts or by hives × feedings; get pounds of sugar, water volume, and common batch tables.
Winter Honey Stores Checker
Count full frames (deep ≈ 9 lbs, medium ≈ 5.5 lbs) or weigh the hive. Compares against regional targets — North 80–90 lbs, Mid 50–60, South 30–40 — and returns OK or feed-now with syrup amounts.
Honey Jars Calculator
Supers, frames, or bucket weight in — jar counts out, for every standard US container from 2-oz samples to 5-gal buckets. Includes extraction efficiency and the honey-is-sold-by-weight math (1 gal ≈ 12 lbs).
How the tools get their numbers
Every calculator reads from plain data tables published with this site: startup items and cost ranges reflect typical US retail pricing across major suppliers; honey forecasts are deliberately conservative and anchored to USDA NASS colony averages; winter targets follow university extension guidance, with the source and last-verified date shown on each result. When a number can change, we show where it came from.
